EN 1.4436 (X3CrNiMo17-13-3) Stainless Steel
EN 1.4436 stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel formulated for primary forming into wrought products. Cited properties are appropriate for the solution annealed (AT) condition. 1.4436 is the EN numeric designation for this material. X3CrNiMo17-13-3 is the EN chemical designation.

Particular ranges of sulphur content may provide improvement of particular properties. For machinability a controlled sulphur content of 0.015 % to 0.030% is recommended and permitted. For weldability, a controlled sulphur content of 0.008 % to 0.030 % is recommended and permitted. For polishability, a controlled sulphur content of 0.015 % max is recommended.
Elements not listed in this table shall not be intentionally added to the steel without the agreement of the purchaser except for finishing the cast.

The steel grade X3CrNiMo17-13-3 acc. to DIN EN 10272 : 2001-01is used for hot and cold formed rods for pressure vessels. The corrosion behaviour of the steel is similar to 1.4401. Slightly improved resistance to selective attack due to the higher Mo-content. The material is resistant to intercrystalline corrosion (ic) in delivery condition, in sensitized condition for cross sections up to 40 mm resistance to ic for cross sections up to 40 mm if the sensitization treatment of 10 min. has been carried out at 650°C +/- 10°C with subsequent cooling.
