The main thoroughfare of N6 (Nickel 200, N02200) pure nickel alloy:
N6 pure nickel alloys have good mechanical properties at higher temperatures, however nickel 200 is typically limited to use below 600 °F (315 °C). At high temperatures, the nickel 200 product will be graphitized, which will seriously degrade the performance of the product. When used above °F (315 °C), nickel 201 is more commonly used. Pure nickel N6 and nickel N4 are structural materials approved by ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. The N6 approved service temperature can reach 600°F (315°C) and the N4 approved service temperature can reach 1250°F (677°C).
Corrosion resistance of pure nickel
Pure nickel is particularly resistant to alkali corrosion and is stable in high temperature or molten alkali, so it is mainly used in the alkali industry. Nickel is extremely stable in seawater and salt solutions and organic media (such as fatty acids, phenols, alcohols, etc.) at room temperature. Not resistant to inorganic acid corrosion, also unstable in acetic acid and formic acid.
